Types of Cataracts
Cataracts can develop in different parts of the lens, affecting vision in unique ways:
Cortical Cataract
Forms as white wedge-shaped streaks on the lens edges, causing glare and light sensitivity.
Nuclear Cataract
Affects the center of the lens, leading to gradual yellowing and difficulty seeing details.
Posterior Subcapsular Cataract
Develops at the back of the lens, affecting near vision and increasing glare sensitivity.
Traumatic Cataract
Develops after an eye injury, sometimes years later.
Congenital Cataract
Present at birth or develops in childhood due to genetic conditions or infections.
Secondary Cataract
Can occur after eye surgery or due to conditions like diabetes or medication use.
